Speedway, Ind. ~ The American Rally Association and NEFR Organizers have decided the New England Forest Rally will not be included in the 2024 ARA National Championship.
For the past few years, the ARA and NEFR have discussed the availability of roads in the area and the difficulty in finding ways to limit transits. The organizers have faced shrinking road availability and have used every road available for the last few years. An exhaustive effort was undertaken, but no solutions were found. Without more stage roads available and rising costs for road usage, the direction was clear. A mutual decision was made between the ARA and NEFR to give opportunity to other events to grow and join the ARA National Championship.
NEFR Chairperson Chris Cyr "I have had to make a lot of tough decisions and this one has been one of the toughest. Our event has played a big role in the history of American rally. We just need some time to regroup and find a new way forward. There will be rallies in New England and we hope to find our way back to hosting a National event."
The NEFR organizers are looking into the viability of hosting a regional event and are working diligently to consider the options for 2024.
The discussion around the long-term sustainability and restructuring of NEFR began last year. While hearts are still heavy, the tragic loss of Erin Kelly was not a factor of this decision.
The ARA will announce its full 2024 National Championship Schedule in October; join our mailing list here to be notified.
