ERA Motorsport Announces 2022 ARA National Championship Entry

Updated: Jan 9, 2022

ERA Motorsport has officially announced plans to run in the 2022 American Rally Association National Championship presented by DirtFish.

A press release posted earlier today to the ERA Motorsport website detailed plans for Tilley to run in 8 of the 9 national rounds of the ARA 2022 season alongside well respected co-driver Martin Brady.

While the press release doesn’t mention what class Tilley will be entered in, it’s safe to assume based on car history and Sno*Drift’s entry list he’ll be entering the RC2 class.

Kyle Tilley first showed up behind the wheel of a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII at Ojibwe Forests Rally last year quickly found himself driving of one of McKenna Motorsport’s Rally2 Fiestas one round later at Lake Superior Performance Rally.

That was all the convincing he needed to go in on a recently rebuilt M-Sport Fiesta R5 which he raced at Oregon Trail Rally right up until a hard off on the final stage of the rally.

Since then he has purchased another Fiesta R5 and raced it at Nemadji Trail Rally to a victory, and followed that up with a win at the Big White Winter Rally back in McKenna hardware, and will compete at Artic Lapland Rally in one week behind the wheel of a Hyundai i20 R5.

Tilley and Brady will be competing at each of the rounds for 2022 except for the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood, which conflicts with Tilley’s LMP2 schedule.

I have been very fortunate to have sat alongside some ace codrivers,” Tilley said. “To have the chance to work with Irish rally legend Martin Brady is something that I am super excited about!”

“Both Martin and I share the same goal, to win and have fun doing it. Martin is one of, if not the most experienced codrivers in the world, and I can’t wait to learn from one of the best; it raises not just my game, but the team as a whole!”

Brady, who is most recently known for his 2WD championships in the ARA National Championship navigating for Seamus Burke is excited for the change.

“I am very excited to join Kyle for the 2022 ARA season,” Brady told ERA Motorsport. “I have been lucky in US rally and enjoyed success in every year of the ARA Championship since its inception, and I know this season will be no different.”

“I met Kyle many months ago knowing he was a racing driver of renown, but I quickly learned that he has rallying right in his veins, not just race wins. He is first and foremost a proper enthusiast and has a love for this discipline of the sport, but when the stage countdown hits go, he is just as serious of a competitor as he is at turn one of Daytona.”

The first event of the ARA Season, Sno*Drift Rally, takes place next month in Atlanta, Michigan on February 18-19, where Tilley will also be unveiling a new livery, which will be designed by a lucky fan in ERA Motorsport’s latest contest.
